Hot Weather Policy
Hot weather policy for many sports takes into account that games are played at different times and different locations - and so there is an agreed "no play" policy, so teams don't feel they have to play or they will lose their win/loss points. (For example: Baseball SA's Hot Weather policy states "if it is forecast to be 37 degrees or more on the day as announced on 5AA at 8am then no games will proceed"). It solves communication even though on a number of occasions, actual temperatures, humidity, wind etc. mean games could have been played quite safely/comfortably.
In The Case of Regular Sunday morning Teeball
We therefore have the following policy:
Parents are always final decision makers - if you feel it's too hot, don't come... (If you can advise your coach if you aren't coming via mobile that would be great.)
If you are playing and think it's too hot, stop!
Coaches and parents at all times in consultation are in charge - so commonsense prevails!
We have decided not to use a specific cut-off temperature forecast as the guide due to the number of variables and because many people will still come to the ground on any given Sunday. Remember each team has a sunshade and free sunscreen is available at the canteen!
(Please note - All Stars Tee Ball on Sunday afternoons 4 times per year does have a hot weather policy - if forecast is 36 degrees or hotter as per 5AA 8am broadcast on the day, the round is cancelled/postponed)
