Information for Parents

This page is intended to provide Parents with some basic information and frequently asked questions about the Sturt T Ball Club. If you have other suggestions on helpful information that should be included please email webmaster@sturtteeball.org.

  1. What is your hot weather policy?
Click here to see our hot weather policy.
  2. Where do I get blank Score Sheets?
Click here to get a score sheet.
  3. Do you sell refreshments at the ground?
The Sturt T Ball Club has a Canteen Trailer, located next to the Clubhouse. Refreshments, Sausages, Team Caps and any general enquiries you should be directed to this location.
  4. Do I really need to register by the due date?
The Sturt T Ball Club follows a simple process for Registration. Each child whose parents fill in the Registration Form and pay the amount of money by the due date are considered duly registered.

The Sturt T Ball Club would also ask parents to complete the Registration Form and forward the money directly to the Registration Officer. Please make every effort to complete the Registration process before the first morning as completing the Registration proces on the first morning produces long delays and is a frustrating process for all involved!

The Sturt T Ball Club makes every effort to accomodate individual children's requests eg to play with friends from school etc. However, this can only be possible if you mark on the Registration Form who your child wants to play with!

Once the Registration Form is received by the Registration Officer it is logged by date received. In that way, children who are registered first get the first preference to play in the Team of their choice.

After the official close of Registration the flexiblity to match children's preferences to play with their friends decreases, so it is very important to register early!

The Sturt T Ball Club wants children to have fun playing the game, so if your child does not get their first preference of team, we would still strongly recommend that your child consider playing in another team. Our experince as a Club is that whilst children are initially disappointed about not being able to play in the Team of their first choice this feeling is generally overcome by the fun the children have playing T Ball, irrespective of the Team that they are in.

  5. I wanted to Register late, but found all the Teams are full. What do I do?
Interest in the Sturt T Ball Club is generally high and often all Teams are full after the first official game.

If you want your child to be considered for any available positions that become available it is essential that you still complete the formal Registration process, without forwarding payment. Payment details will be determined depending on the amount of time your child plays.

The Sturt T Ball Club keeps an official waiting list and records. Children are allocated to any available spaces on a strictly "first come first serve basis".

  6. What do we need on the first day?
The most important thing to have done is to have registered your child. This means completing the Registration Form and forwarding it back with the appropriate fee. Players need to have completed the Registration process for insurance purposes.

In addition you will have needed to have purchased a fielding glove (we suggest contacting Sportspower at Castle Plaza).

Uniform pants and can be collected from the near the Clubhouse on the first morning. Caps are available from the Canteen for a subsidised cost of $7.00 throughout the season. Uniform tops can be collected from your Team Coach. After the first week, any enquiries about Uniform Pants should be made to the Canteen.
  7. Can I help on match days?
Some parents, in particular those who are new to this club, may have wished to volunteer but were unsure what the positions entailed. Please find below a brief description of those positions. If, after reading the description below, you feel you could assist your child's team by undertaking one of the positions please mark this information on the Registration Form or contact any member of the Committee to discuss it further. In addition you can also make yourself known at any of the games!

    • Coach - The Coach trains the children within his/her team in the basic skills of T-ball such as throwing, catching, batting and the basic rules of the game. They may wish to hold practice sessions on alternate days for team members or they may have practice sessions each Sunday prior to the match (usually between 8.30am -9.00am). Some teams practice during the week. It really is up to the parents to decide what best suits everyone.
    • Umpire - All teams will be required to supply an Umpire on a rostered basis so that they only have to umpire every second week.. The Umpire will be supplied with a rule book listing the rules and regulations of T-Ball. The umpires decisions are final and tolerance of decisions is required of all parents as often the umpire is umpiring for their first season.
    • Team Managers - Team managers are responsible for the smooth running of their team. They are required to co-ordinate the parents involvement in the setting out of the field, including the benches. They are responsible for the care and allocation of the equipment.. They will be supplied with First Aid 'icepacks' and are responsible for the care and use of these every Sunday. It is their task to ensure that at least one parent is available to score, umpire, etc. each week.
    • Scorer - Blank Scoring sheets will be provided for scorer's. Scoring is a relatively simple but important process with both teams providing a scorer for each game.Click here to print off blank Scoring Sheets.
  8. What times are the games played?
All games are played on Sundays from 9.30 am to 10.30 am. The games are all played at the Adelaide University Sports Grounds on the corner of Fullarton and Claremont Avenue, Netherby. It is important to note that games need to finish at 10.30 am so it is important not to start new innings that will run the game well past 10.30 am. Other people have the oval booked for cricket so we need to stick to these arrangements. Coaches will make individual arrangements in terms of what time they want players at the ground, but most coaches want the players there by 9.00 am for a warm up.
  9. Do we need to provide the Uniform?
Parents will need to provide navy blue socks. Pants and shirts are provided. They will be available on the first morning near the Clubhouse. Caps can be purchased at the ground on match days. Parents will also need to provide a fielding glove for the child(ren). These can be purchased from the major department stores and sports stores.
